
Wildfire in Chile
Chilean officials have registered the biggest forest fire in the region of Valparaíso, specifically in places like Limache and Villa Alemana. The fire has destroyed over 400 hectares. Four brigades, a Conaf helicopter and a technician have been sent there to help put out the fire.
Another fire in the Santa Sofía de Lo Cañas area, in La Florida has not been put out completely; so far, it has destroyed 15 to 20 hectares. Firefighters from San Bernardo and Ñuñoa are doing their best to deal with the fire in this zone.
In other regions, like O’Higgins, the fire in “Ocuquer” is under control, but it has already destroyed 3,000 hectares. In the Maule region, the fire in “Loncomilla” has already been extinguished and it only destroyed 4.5 hectares. Finally, the fire in “Los Quillayes”, in the Biobío region, has already been extinguished as well and destroyed 51 hectares in total.
