The United States Ambassador to Chile Paul Simons
U.S. Ambassador to Chile Paul Simons participated in a dialogue on relations with South America held at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, D.C., on January 22 with the U.S. ambassadors to Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
In that conversation, Ambassador Simons commented on President-elect Sebastian Piñera and bilateral relations, underscoring that the free trade agreement signed by the two countries has increased trade 250 percent in the first five years of the agreement and therefore has been “extraordinarily successful.”
With regard to president-elect Piñera, the ambassador said that the goals set out by the Piñera administration to promote competitiveness, innovation, and long-term growth would be further incentive for U.S. companies to invest in Chile.
